Playing or doing school work on line can be very positive for children but there are hidden dangers.
Risks-Never give out personal details on line.
STRANGER = DANGER
Never agree to meet up with anyone met on line unless a responsible adult accompanies you.
Childnet research found that in their homes
79% of children use the internet unsupervised
57% of children have seen online pornography
49% of children have given out personal information on line.
31% of children have received unwanted sexual comments via email, text or instant message.
Parents need to keep checking and get a good firewall.
Talk to your child about the potential dangers.
Encourage them to tell you about anything upsetting or odd BUT do not over react or they will keep quiet.
Report your concerns if serious.
